Queen Elizabeth I Gifts Elizabeth I was born on September 7, 1533. She was known by many names such as The Virgin Queen, Gloriana, Good Queen Bess, or, well, Your Highness. She was the sixth and last monarch of the Tudor dynasty. Her mother was Anne Boleyn, and her father, Henry VIII. Everyone expected Elizabeth to take a husband, but despite these expectations—and even some petitions from parliament—she never did. To this day, we don’t know why she declined from marriage. She became famous for retaining her virginity. In government matters, Elizabeth was actually more conservative than her father and siblings. Her motto was “I see, and say nothing,” and therefore, her words were never misunderstood. Elizabeth was cautious in foreign affairs, and she was regarded as a ruler of the golden age (she’s got an era named after her). She was Queen of England and Queen of Ireland from November 17 1558 until her death on March 24, 1603.
