 | Da Vinci Gifts Da Vinci-—actually, it’s Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci-—was born the illegitimate son of a notary and peasant girl on April 15, 1452. Surprisingly, he was quite the mathematician and scientist, so that stereotype that artists can’t be rational thinkers and vice versa is sort of moot. For all his skills, Da Vinci is most known for his talent with the paintbrush. Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, The Vitruvian Man, Virgin of the Rocks… the list goes on and on. He is one of the most revered Renaissance artists in the world. His genius ascended to the Free Art Supply Store in the Sky on May 2, 1519.
