Ludwig Van Beethoven Gifts

Ludwig Van Beethoven was born in Germany on December 16, 1770. Of the six other siblings that were born, only three survived, and he was one of them. His talent was recognized very early on. By 1778—at the mere age of eight!—he had already begun to study the organ and the viola in addition to the piano. He apprenticed at the hands of Christian Gottlob Neefe (this would be like Tiger Woods teaching you how to golf), and he went on to publish his first composition. But his mother had contracted tuberculosis, and he returned home to be with her in her final days. His father was addicted to the old southern comfort, so Beethoven was left with the responsibility of raising his two younger brothers. His dreams of eventually studying with Mozart the famous composer died in 1791. But then the ultimate musician’s nightmare came to fruition: at the age of 26, Beethoven had begun to lose his hearing. Still, Beethoven wrote music, but it made live performances very difficult for him. He had lost custody of his nephew, and soon after, his health and spirits declined until he passed away on March 26, 1827. Beethoven played a crucial role in the composition of classic and romantic music, and his masterpieces have earned their place in history.
