This 4" tall Leif Eriksson action figure comes with a removable Viking hat.
Leif Eriksson, known as Leif the Lucky, was the first European known to visit North America, long before Columbus made his famous voyage. Leif was a Viking who grew up in Greenland, where his father, Erik the Red, had begun a colony in 982. In the year 1000, Leif sailed southwest from Greenland with 35 men. They landed at three regions along the North American coast, most likely Labrador, Nova Scotia and a place he called Vinland, likely either Newfoundland or New England. Leif and his men may have sailed as far south as Cape Cod before returning to Greenland. It would be another 600 years before the first permanent European settlement in North America. | |
